Scott started his media career 20 years ago, first with Radio New Zealand then with media specialist company Media Plus.
He honed his craft working on international brands such as Estee Lauder and national retailers like Dick Smith Electronics and The Warehouse. He also broadened his knowledge by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Business (Marketing) from The University of Auckland.
Having understood the science of media, Scott learnt the art of media under the direction of media legend, Murray Kinsella, who showed him the more subtle, qualitative aspects of planning.
5 Years later he was offered employment by New Zealand’s pre-eminent Advertising Agency Colenso BBDO. It was during this tenure that he established his credentials by winning two CAANZ Media Awards and completed a Master’s Degree in Business studies (MBA) from The University of Auckland. 9 years ago Scott saw a gap in the market for a media centric strategy company, so he started Tactical Media. This company has grown from a start-up to being one of the top New Zealand owned independent media planning companies in New Zealand.
Scott has been a regular guest speaker for business groups and the University of Auckland on the topics of, Integrated Marketing Communications and ‘Sun Tzu and The Art of Business Strategy’
Scott also teaches 2 day strategic planning course at the University of Auckland, ‘The Art of War for Managers’ which applies the principles of Sun Tzu to business.
Rebecca has been part of the Tactical Media story almost from its inception.
As Media Manager, Rebecca has a very close working relationship with all our clients and is integral to the development and execution of all our advertising campaigns. She develops and maintains our best practices criteria (KPI’s) for media planning and buying right through to post analysis. Rebecca also tracks and monitors the media expenditure, of our clients’ competition enabling us to detect changes in buying patterns and also measure our own performance against that of our competitors.
Rebecca is responsible for all media supplier relationships and heavily involved in media negotiations. Where required Rebecca will also oversee material production and delivery.
She has a Business Degree, Majoring in Advertising and e-Business.
Janis is the newest member of the Tactical Media team joining us straight out of The University of Auckland where she graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce majoring in Marketing and International Business.
Janis was involved in a study which looked at how SME’s can create and capture value through innovation. She also competed in the University Entrepreneurial Challenge (SPARK), as well as being heavily involved in event management and the marketing of various University activities.
Janis’s role includes data entry; pre and post buy analysis, client competitor tracking and reporting, plus tracking our client’s media effectiveness.
Janis brings a freshness and exuberance to the Tactical Media Team.
